Tomah Area School District proudly hosted its first-ever Multilingual Family Night on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, bringing together families, staff, and community partners for an evening filled with connection, learning, and celebration at Lemonweir Elementary School.
The event, part of the district’s Title III Program, was designed to strengthen relationships with multilingual families and ensure every family feels welcomed, supported, and informed. Thanks to a partnership with Viterbo University, translation devices were available, allowing families who needed English interpretation to fully participate in the evening’s activities.
Families were greeted upon arrival with supervised childcare, allowing parents to engage fully in the program. Lemonweir Principal Brian Oberweiser welcomed attendees and set a positive tone for the night, followed by introductions of district staff including Paul Skofronick, Director of Pupil Services, Maria Paloma Padilla, District Interpreter for Multilingual Families, and many Tomah Area School District teachers and volunteers who helped make the evening possible.
Community Partners Make It Possible! The district extends their appreciation to the local businesses and organizations whose generous support helped bring this event to life. Special thanks to: Culver’s, Family First, Neighbor for Neighbor Food Pantry, Pizza Hut, The Break Room, Casey’s, Dairy Queen, Taco Bell, Family Dental, CCF Bank, T-Town Nutrition, JNC Latin Grocery Store, Quiznos, Kwik Trip, Boys and Girls Club, Strike Zone, Viterbo University, and Western Technical College. Your support strengthens our community and ensures meaningful opportunities for students and families.
The main presentation, led by Aurora Gonzalez of CESA-4, provided families with an overview of the Title III Program, including services for multilingual learners, program goals, progress monitoring, and strategies to support language development at home. Families also learned about additional resources and engagement opportunities to stay connected with the district and community throughout the school year.
After the presentation, families enjoyed a complimentary dinner, explored the Family Resource Fair, and learned more about school and community programs.
The night concluded with raffle drawings and final remarks, emphasizing the district’s commitment to building strong partnerships with multilingual families and celebrating the rich cultural and linguistic diversity that strengthens the Tomah Area School District community.
