TASD Board of Education Approved Revision to Quarantine Protocol

At the November 15th regular meeting of the Board of Education, members approved the following revision to the district quarantine protocol which is effective immediately:

Monroe County Health completes all Contact Tracing, Parent/Guardian Notification

  1. District continues to enforce positive and/or symptomatic case students, and close contacts based on Monroe County Health Department guidelines.
  2. For asymptomatic negative close contact students, the district enforces 8, 11, 14 Day protocols.
  3. Student Option to Test to Stay with a lab reportable test every other day through day 8 for any non-positive close contact cases. (Both symptomatic and asymptomatic).  Beginning Thursday, November 18th testing is available from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Robert Kupper Learning Center located at 1310 Townline Road.  Pre-registration is required.

Due to federal statute, face coverings continue to be required when students are riding on district transportation.

With Board approval of this administrative recommendation, school district employees will no longer conduct COVID 19 contact tracing nor contact parents/guardians regarding student quarantine. We want our employees to focus on the educational needs of our students. The medical contact tracing and parent/guardian communication associated with COVID 19 will be the responsibility of the Monroe County Health Department.

If your child is required to quarantine by the Monroe County Health Department, you have the following choices:

  1. Early return on Day 8 with a negative test on day 6 or 7. Return on Day 11 with no symptoms. Return on Day 15. Face coverings are highly recommended through Day 14.
  2. Test to Stay Option beginning Thursday, November 18th: If your child is a close contact and needs to quarantine, your child may test every other day through day 8 and stay in school with no missed school days with negative test results.
  3. Face coverings are highly recommended.

Please direct all questions regarding COVID 19 quarantine directives to the Monroe County Health Department.  Monroe County Health may be reached at (608) 269-8666.

This revision to the quarantine protocol allows our district to focus on the educational needs of our students while also encouraging a safe and healthy classroom environment. Thank you.
