Young innovators took center stage in Mrs. Urmanski’s third grade classroom at Warrens Elementary during a recent Invention Fair that showcased creativity, problem-solving, and big ideas from some of our smallest learners.

Students were challenged to design an original invention that solves a real-world problem. From brainstorming and sketching to building and presenting, each student stepped into the role of engineer and inventor. The results were both imaginative and impressive.

Taking first place was Griffin Hanson with his clever “Book Umbrella,” an invention designed to keep books dry and protected in wet weather. Earning runner-up honors was Hunter Zinke for his “Freezie Sleeve,” a creative solution to keep frozen treats cold while protecting hands from the chill.

While these two projects stood out to the judges, every student who participated demonstrated outstanding effort, creativity, and critical thinking. Events like the Invention Fair help students build confidence in sharing their ideas while learning that innovation often begins with identifying simple, everyday problems.

A special thank you goes to this year’s judges — Greg Zingler, Shayla Furlano, and Deputy Badger — for taking the time to listen to student presentations and celebrate their hard work.

We are incredibly proud of the imagination and determination shown by Warrens Elementary third graders. Opportunities like this highlight how creativity and innovation are nurtured every day in Tomah’s elementary schools — proof that the next generation of thinkers, designers, and engineers is already hard at work.
