Teacher Appreciation Week 5/2/21 - 5/8/21

Teacher Appreciation Week 5/2/21 - 5/8/21

This week we celebrate our teachers during National Teacher Appreciation Day on May 4th and Teacher Appreciation Week, May 2nd through May 8th! A time for us to say, “Thank you!” for the gifts, talents, and dedicated service Tomah Area School District teachers have provided our community of learners –especially during this extraordinary time in the profession of education.  While we highlight this week to honor teachers, we are grateful for their care, compassion, and commitment to educational excellence every child, every day!

The National Education Association (NEA) website provides the history for this important annual recognition event. “The day celebrates the outstanding work and lifelong dedication of teachers nationwide. National Teacher Day came into being through the leadership and persistence of Eleanor Roosevelt. In 1953, she persuaded the 81st Congress to proclaim May 7 that year as National Teacher Day.  PTA took Roosevelt’s idea and dedicated a whole week to celebrate the accomplishments of educators. PTA’s annual Teacher Appreciation Week honors the dedicated men and women who lend their passion and skills to educating children.”

The caring and professional teachers at Tomah Area School District shine their light on the lives of every child in our district teaching, guiding, and encouraging our students to reach their goals for the future. Their innovative skill sets and “can do” spirit have powered our district to success through a remarkable year. They have kept us moving forward defining excellence in education!

Thank you for taking part in celebrating and recognizing our teachers this week for the incredible impact they make along our children’s educational journey!
