Elementary School Counseling

Tomah Area School District provides a comprehensive elementary school counseling program for all students, is aligned with the ASCA National Model, and is dedicated to improving student success.

Typical Services Provided:

  • Group counseling (Topics determined by student needs)
  • Biweekly guidance lessons (Grades K-5)
  • Career conferencing (Offered to 5th grade students and their families)
  • Play Therapy (exploring & role-playing solutions, creative representations of life situations)
  • Bibliotherapeutic Experiences (reading & discussing books relevant to the student experiences)
  • Conflict-Resolution processes (working out disagreements)
  • Video-clip discussion/analysis (identifying strengths, challenges, solutions)
  • Behavioral Coaching/Role Plays (goal-setting & encouragement)
  • Therapeutic Games (card & board games focused on developing coping skills)
