TASD Continues with Plan to Require Face Coverings

TASD CONTINUES WITH PLAN TO REQUIRE FACE COVERINGS IN ALL DISTRICT BUILDINGS AND AT ALL DISTRICT EVENTS

In light of the Wisconsin State Supreme Court Ruling that overturned Governor Evers’ statewide mask mandate, the Tomah Area School District will continue to require all students, staff and visitors to wear face coverings while inside TASD buildings and at all TASD events.

District Administrators and Board of Education members believe face coverings have contributed largely in our COVID 19 mitigation successes. Our community’s commitment to wearing face coverings has allowed TASD to offer face-to-face instruction at all levels for the greater part of the year and gave the Board of Education the confidence to approve the return of sixth through twelfth grade students to four days of in-person instruction. This requirement is an important safety practice that allows our schools to continue the delivery of educational services to students in a face-to-face setting without interruptions in this last quarter of the year.  Your continued cooperation is a pivotal part of us finishing this school year health and in-person.

Reference: Minutes from the 9/21/20 Regular Board of Education Meeting, Item 7A “A motion was made to approve the continuation of the mandatory face covering protocols for the safety of District students and employees, until face coverings are no longer required by law or District Policy/rule, and the District determines after due consultation with local health officials that face coverings are no longer a necessary safety precaution. The motion carried.”
