PURPOSE:
The Tomah Area School District honors the accomplishments and humanitarian efforts of former alumni through nomination, selection and induction to our Distinguished Alumni program. It is hoped that this recognition will provide role models for our current students, instill pride in our community, and provide an opportunity to celebrate the successes of these outstanding individuals. We believe distinguished alumni can inspire our students to continue the legacy of excellence which is defined by those whom we are honoring- individuals who have made a difference and have made our world a better place.
CRITERIA FOR NOMINATION:
To be nominated, the candidate (living or deceased) must be/have:
- a graduate of Tomah High School or attended Tomah High School for at least two years,
- a Tomah High School alum of 10 years prior to the nomination,
- a record of outstanding achievement in his/her career field or fulfillment of personal educational potential, and
- outstanding leadership, character, and service to his/her community.
Nominations will be kept for three years. Self-nominations will not be considered.
Nomination forms can be accessed on the District website (use the link at the bottom of this page) and completed and submitted electronically. Paper copies of the nomination form are also available at the District Office, 129 W. Clifton, Street, Tomah, WI 54660.

GOVERNANCE:
The Distinguished Alumni Program will be governed by the Alumni Recognition Committee, in cooperation with the Tomah Area School District Board of Education and the Tomah Area School District Foundation. The committee shall be comprised of nine (9) individuals to include the Superintendent of the Tomah School District and/or his/her designee, a Tomah School Board member, a member of the Tomah School District Foundation, the President of the Tomah High School Student Council, and representatives of the community of which three should be alumni of Tomah High School.
In the inaugural year of the Distinguished Alumni Program, the Alumni Recognition Committee may elect to induct as many nominees as it deems appropriate. Each year thereafter, one to three nominees will be selected and inducted into the Distinguished Alumni Program.
All voting on nominees will be done by secret ballot.
RECOGNITION:
Inductees to the Distinguished Alumni Program will be recognized during Homecoming festivities each year- riding in the Homecoming Parade and being announced at the high school football game. Each inductee to the Distinguished Alumni Program will receive the same plaque which is placed on the recognition wall at Tomah High School. Inductees to the Distinguished Alumni Program will also be archived on the District website. Yearly publicity of this recognition will occur using local media sources and Tomah Area School District social media accounts.
