Special Education Services & Resources
The Special Education Department is committed to meeting the unique learning needs of students with disabilities by providing high-quality, individualized instruction and support. Through a collaborative and student-centered approach, we work to ensure that every student has access to meaningful educational opportunities and can make progress toward their full potential.
Special education services are provided in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and are designed to meet each student’s specific needs through an Individualized Education Program (IEP). Services are delivered in a variety of settings, with an emphasis on inclusion and access to the general education curriculum whenever appropriate.
Our services and supports include:
-
Specially designed instruction across a range of academic and functional areas
-
Speech and language therapy services
-
Occupational and physical therapy services
-
School psychology services for evaluation and support
-
Behavioral and social-emotional supports
-
Transition planning to prepare students for post-secondary education, employment, and independent living
Our team collaborates closely with families, teachers, and community partners to develop and implement individualized plans that support student growth. Through strong partnerships, evidence-based practices, and a commitment to inclusion, the Special Education Department works to ensure that every student is supported in achieving success in school and beyond.
Students qualifying for special education services have needs that often require support that goes beyond what is usually offered or received in the regular school/classroom setting. Special education is in place to ensure that all students' educational needs are met. This means that additional services, support, programs, specialized placements, or environments are supplied when necessary and at no cost to the parents. TASD offers specially designed instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities.
